YES! In fact, if you have younger kids or babies, I will even highly recommend at least twice a year. For babies under 1, I recommend once every 3 months as milestones (newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year). I am not saying this simply because I am family photographer, but because I am a mom myself.

Watching my preschooler growing up so fast and knowing that photography is my superpower medium to stop the time, is the main reason why I make family photo sessions a bi-annual family event for our family. If you have kids under 5 especially, look at them now and look at their photos from last year. I bet you would be surprised at how much they have grown! I always say: how did I not noticed this?!

Other reasons why you should hire a family photographer for your family photos:

1) Opportunity to pause and appreciate your lovely family and their personalities
o As a family photographer, I observed and would get to know your family through questionnaires, pre-session prep call, and before the session (important reason to arrive early to your session) that I sent out prior to our session. I would make sure to highlight these in the photos so once you see the final photos in your gallery, you would realize how blessed and beautiful your family is!

2) Act of self-care
o Yes, you read it right. Parents, you work so hard to raise your family and give them your best. It is an important act of self-care to treat yourself in a special way. Look good (put on makeup, have your hair and nails done, etc because how often do we have this opportunity as a mom with little ones?!), feel good for the photos, while no need to worry on how your photos would come out. Let your photographer take care of it all! You deserve to be reminded on how amazing you are!

3) Investment that only increases in value over time
o Not only family photos make a great timeless artwork for your home, but it is also an artwork that you would cherish more as time goes by! The older the photos are, the more value it holds in your heart. Not only that, but generations to come will cherish it even more and when children grew up, they realize how loved and special they are.

4) Kids grow up SO fast, and photograph is something tangible that you can hold onto forever. You can’t turn back the time!
o Whenever someone asked me if I could have one superpower, what would it be? My answer has always been to stop the time!! I then realized that my camera is my tool to stop time and I want to share these with others! Family and every child should be celebrated! Imagine 10, 20, 30 years from now when your children are grown-ups.. and you look at these photos when they were little… how would you feel? (I got sentimental as I’m typing this :’) ). I am forever grateful for photography!
